Akshardham Temple

One of the most recent additions in the temples in Delhi, Akshardham is an architectural marvel. It is built by the Bochasanvasi Aksharpurushottam Swaminarayan Institute (BAPS) on the banks of Yamuna River. The temple was inaugurated in the presence of our former President APJ Abdul Kalam. Positioned over an area of 100 acres, the temple took around 2 years in its completion. The temple features 234 ornate pillars, flowery motifs, curves, elegantly carved pavilions, 9 ornate domes, 20 quadrangle shikhars and stone elephants. The extensive fountain show of the temple is really famous.

Popular as Lakshmi Narayan Mandir, Birla Mandir was built by Raja Baldev Das in 1938. The main deities of the temples are Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. However, idols of many other gods and goddesses like Shiva, Ganesha, Hanuman and Durga are present here, along various Hindu symbols and quotes from Geeta. Mahatma Gandhi inaugurated this temple on the condition to allow the untouchables entering into this temple. It attracts many devotees and international tourists.

Chattarpur Temple is located in Mehrauli area of Delhi and comprised of a gorgeous monumental. The temple is built in both the South Indian and North Indian architectural style. Prachin Hanuman Mandir is situated in Connaught Place area of Delhi. It is among the oldest Hanuman Temples in India, which was built in 1724 by Maharaja Jai Singh. From the period of its construction, the temple has seen several restorations. The idol of Lord Hanuman in this temple represents the very child form of him. Gauri Shankar Temple is a popular Hindu temple located in Chandni Chowk area of Old Delhi. The main deities of the temple are Lord Shiva & Goddess Parvathi. The temple houses an 800-years old lingam surrounded by snakes. Beautifully adorned statues of Gauri (Goddess Parvati) & Shankar (Lord Shiva) are instilled under a silver canopy in the main shrine.
